dear snow day,
hi there. i'm not sure if you remember me. mrs. fulghum. i teach 4th grade in overland park, ks. i wrote to you about a year ago with one simple request. to please visit me. you see, snow day, you seriously let me down. last year came and went and you never even showed your face. i was saddened. i was disheartened. luckily for you, spring came bringing with it lovely warm weather, heightened spirits and best of all, summer. you lucked out.
but here we are again. winter is back. the cold seems to have permanently set in and the 4th graders are in full out crazy winter mode. snow day, this year is even worse than last. yes, it is only december. yes, i made my very own self declared snow day last week, however i have 28 kids this year instead of 22 and...here's the real kicker...i'm 8 months pregnant.
so you see snow day. i need you.
the weather conditions for the next couple of days seem promising. wintery mixes, low temperatures and precipitation. we have our phone trees out, our jammies on backwards and we all did the snow dance at precisely 7:00 pm.
we are ready. you let me down once snow day. i'm begging you, please don't do it again.
sincerely,
mrs. fulghum

ha. you know as a kid i never thought that the teachers were just as intently watching the school cancellation list on early morning news as i was.
Hope you get your snow day if that is what you want. Our day in Abilene has been cold, moist, not pleasant at all. The weather man said it would end by 9 a.m. tomorrow. We shall see. Stay warm during these cold days. We love you so much.
AMEN! We totally missed out today - but tomorrow looks promising! Keep doing your snow dance!
