this past weekend
my good friend rubey came to visit.
okay, technically her name is melissa rubey.
but no one {and i mean no one} calls her melissa.
in fact, according to leighton she is ru-ey.
we had a grand weekend and lived it up here in kc.
saturday night we all pitched in for a yummy summer meal.
clay grilled up some bacon wrapped pork chops and sweet corn.
and baked some delicious sweet potato fries.
while clay was busy grilling,
the ladies were making some homemade cookies and cream ice cream.
can i just say...amazing!
leighton and rubey had the first taste
we had to freeze it for awhile to get the perfect consistency
and were so excited when it was ready to eat.
we all agreed.
it was the perfect dessert for the perfect summer meal.
and now rubey has gone back to texas.
and i'm left with 5 quarts of ice cream.
what's a girl to do?

at first i didn't know what the corn was in the first photo. for some reason my brain couldn't figure it out...dang fetus. looks like a grand time! i want to take a nap just thinking about all the activity going on in your home.
