a LitTLe biT of tExaS

well the past four days have been quite unusual in the fulghum household. clay has been sick since saturday and is still sick. we finally went to the doctor today and they are doing some blood work, but think it is probably just a virus. he should be back to his old self soon.

so clay's been sick and i have been a bit homesick, but we have survived with a few texas treats.

1. friday night lights

if you grew up in west texas...well probably anywhere in texas, you have read the book, seen the movie or watched the tv show. lucky for me, i kind of hooked clay on the show last year. for his birthday he got season 1 & 2. since i am on summer break and i get really sucked into marathons, i have been wanting to watch the show non stop. clay of course has a few other things on his plate right now so he is usually up for one maybe two episodes a day. since he has been sick, we have been watching like crazy. we only have four episodes left to finish season one. this show definitely reminds me of texas for the obvious reasons, but also because it is filmed in austin and more specifically in pflugerville, which is where i taught for the past four years. i love watching it and looking for familiar sights and familiar faces. definitely a good texas memory.

2. chick-fil-a

i mean, is there anyone that lives in texas and doesn't love chick-fil-a? well lucky for me, kansas city is catching on to just how great the original chicken sandwich is. since we have been here, i had yet to eat at chick-fil-a because there isn't one super close to our house. that all changed this weekend. friday night i actually dreamed about chick-fil-a...yeah, i realize this is really sad, but i cannot tell a lie...i often dream of food. so on saturday my fabulous husband, took me to chick-fil-a for lunch. we even discovered a location closer to our house that we had yet to see. my number 1 on wheat with extra pickles, fries and a sweet tea...awww...they were delicious. just as i remembered.

3. clayton vaughan fulghum

that's right...my favorite texas treat. even though he is a kansan through and through, we did meet in texas so he definitely reminds me of lots of good texas memories. i am sad that clay has been sick, but it has worked out rather nicely because i have gotten to spend lots of time with my favorite texas kansan. **ladies, please don't be jealous of the chest hair.

in conclusion i would like to say a big thank you to three of my favorite texas treats for getting me through my first homesick spell.

If it makes you feel any better, Texas is a little smaller and more lonely since you left it! Nobody is having any fun here though so you aren't missing out on too much!

What a cute post! I'll bet Kansas will start to feel more like "home" once the school year starts. That would be hard on anyone. I'll be thinking about you!

What lady is going to be jealous of chest hair? I mean, if I saw a girl with chest hair, I'd soil my pants. Who would want that?
