i started feeling a little crampy thursday afternoon.
that night i had dinner with some girlfriends and told them that i wouldn't be surprised if i went into labor that night.

surprise, i woke up that morning not in labor. boo.
i had my 39 week doctor's appointment that morning and had some good news.
i was dilated to almost a 4! woo hoo.
i was pumped and feeling hopeful that i may in fact not be pregnant for the rest of eternity.
that afternoon, my friend kristin and her daughter came over to hang out.
i really was not feeling great. my lower back was hurting quite a bit and i was still feeling really crampy.
they left around 5:30 and leighton and i went outside to wait for clay to come home.
as i bent down to zip up her hoodie, i felt my first contraction.
we played outside for awhile and i talked to my mom on the phone
{all the while having contractions}
clay got home around 6 and i told him i thought it was baby time.
he was really excited and went into go mode.
i'd been talking with my mom and they were trying to figure out when to leave to head up to kc.
after not too long, we decided to call clay's parents to come and pick leighton up.
the contractions were getting pretty regular and we didn't want them to have to come over in the middle of the night if we ended up going to the hospital.
the craziness began.
packing bags, getting leighton fed and ready to go, handling contractions, etc.
clay's dad {grumpa} arrived to pick up leighton
and i was way more emotional than i thought i would be.
i had not thought for a second about being sad to leave leighton and then it hit all at once.
our last moment as a family of three.
part 2 coming soon!

Okay It's 7:30 in the morning and I'm crying. I seriously can't imagine what the last moment with leighton was like...Thanks for the tears this early in the morning. =)
Can't wait for part 2!
I already cry thinking about being away from Amelia for the 2-3 days that I'll have to be in the hospital for my c-sec. I can imagine telling L bye was so hard!
love part one! love amelia ann!
As lila says... Moe! moe! (more)
I love birth stories; they always make me cry. Can't wait to hear the rest of Amelia's!
