when i first found out i was pregnant,
i read this post on a friend of a friends blog.
at the time, i thought the necklace and the saying were cute,
but they didn't really have any meaning to me.
i had a very easy pregnancy,
so still, 10 months later,
this saying didn't have a whole lot of meaning to me.
until sunday, january 31, 2010.
the delivery process was a little rough for leighton and me.
we both have our battle wounds.
her, some forcep marks and a quickly diminishing cone head.
me, a fourth degree tear/cut and lots of stitches.
this past week has been far from perfect.
being a mother is a lot harder,
a lot more painful,
a lot more exhausting
and a lot more emotional
than i ever could have imagined.
however, i could sit and stare at my daughter for hours.
she is perfect.
i love the way she cuddles up on me with her legs scrunched way up underneath her.
i love her soft hair.
i love the face she makes right before she yawns.
i love her crazy hands that she will not allow to be held down no matter what.
i love how she turns her head towards voices she recognizes.
i love how she hates being cold, just like her mama.
i love how she always calms down in her daddy's arms.
she is worth it all.
worth all the pain.
worth all the upheaval in our lives.
worth all the tears.
worth all the sleepless nights.
she is worth it all.

So so very true... they certainly are worth it all!

congrats!! so excited for ya'll :)
take it easy...those first few weeks are rough on the body...
Love that pic! Love that girl! Love her mommy!
Leighton is just adorable, Kristin!
the first 3 months can be very trying...but you can do it. in the middle of the night, when everyone was sleeping except me and the baby (and i was crying), that this only goes on for a very short time. and then they are big.so quick.
She is just too cute!!! Try to get as much sleep as you can...Lance always did the middle of the night feeding, so that I could get at least 4 straight hours of sleep...definitely worth it!
Love this post. So sweet.
I need to hear the story ASAP. I love you and love seeing the pictures! She is beautiful just like her mama!
I love the pic of Little Miss Priss at one week and your comments. She is sooooooo
cute. Give her a big hug from Gran and Papa or will it be GiGi and PaPa? Whatever. Things will be better soon. I promise. It is always like this the first few weeks. Know we love you and are praying each day for you.
she is!
you did such a great job summing up tose first few weeks. i am so sorry y'all had a rough start and so glad you have a sweet girl to help you through it, she is precious!
What a sweet, sweet post. I can relate with everything you wrote. Leighton is so adorable. I had a really "challenging" delivery as well and felt really cheated out of special experience that so many women have. It kind of gets the whole motherhood thing off to a rocky start when the delivery is so rough. And motherhood IS the hardest--yet, most rewarding--job in the world. The first 3 months are by far the hardest. You sound like you are doing great. What a lucky baby girl.
yes little leighton, you are indeed worth it all! love you , love you!
