7:00 pm
after leighton left,
we began packing bags, timing contractions, etc
you know. all the important things.
it didn't take long to realize that this was go time.
baby girl was coming.
clay called the doctor after an hour of timing contractions and she told us to head on in.
9:00 pm
we left for the hospital around 8:45 or 9 to head to the hospital...
after a quick stop at sonic.
hey, i was hungry and i knew i wouldn't get to eat anything for a long time!
a grilled cheese and a cherry limeade made the evening a lot better.
we arrived at the hospital.
got checked in.
settled in our room.
got checked.
dilated to a 6.
wow!
ordered up the epidural.
awww, that's better.
after the epidural,
my labor was pretty textbook and uneventful.
they broke my water.
we watched dinner for schmucks.
talked to my parents.
talked to my bestie.
man, epidurals are the greatest.
2:00 am {ish}
the nurse checked me and said it was time!
let the pushing begin.
i was very very nervous because this was the horrible part of my delivery with leighton.
after a lot of reassuring from my lovely nurse and lovely husband
we began.
i pushed ONE time
and the nurse said, "don't do anything else. i'm calling the doctor."
clay and i were in shock.
and completely ecstatic.
dr. king along with mulitple other people
{if you've never given birth, be prepared...lots of people come in when it's baby time}
anyways, back to the important stuff.
dr. king came in, ready to catch a baby.
i pushed a couple more times.
the doc made a couple of adjustments,
{turns out amelia's head was just a little tilted...the nurse said she would have come out in one push if her head had been straight on!}
the next push was it!
amelia ann fulghum
arrived at 2:38 am
proud daddy got to cut the cord
and i got to be the first to hold her.
she had a little bit of stuff in her throat and they had to do some suctioning.
she was not happy about that, but it made her feel much better.
she weighed in at 8 pounds 5 ounces
and she was 20 inches long
we were absolutely thrilled that amelia was here!

love that you stopped at sonic... amazing
Love the picture on the scale- already a chunk! Don't remember seeing that one before but she's so precious. Can't wait until she will take a bottle and I'm sure you feel the same!!
I can hear these stories 100 times and it always tears me up and blesses me. You have such a precious family and I love reading all that God is doing in your life. And I definitely understand fussy babies (all three of mine have had colic), so I will be praying, and if you want encouragement, let me know :)
And I'm crying again. Love that you made a sonic run on the way=)
Sorry I missed this yesterday, but I have enjoyed the rest of the story today. Thanks for sharing with us. We are so glad she is here and doing so well. Looking forward to T'giving when we get to see her and love on her. Love to all.
